 Even as a third of Michigan residents lack any vaccine protection against COVID-19, some Michiganders are now getting their fourth COVID inoculation. They would be among the 2.7% of adults who are immunocompromised, a condition that puts them at higher risk of contracting the virus and developing severe symptoms. Federal agencies signed off in mid-January on allowing the fourth shots, and those eligible can can obtain them at pharmacies and other health-care providers offering COVID vaccines. Immunocompromised people are more likely to have a breakthrough infection and are at higher risk for severe and long COVID.
