The answer is complicated.

Why is hot inflation melting your butter budget? It’s complicated. |
A sharp increase: Butter prices have surged 21% since last June, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report.
The reasons: Butter is increasing in demand, milk prices are up, cost of production has risen, and it experts predict the price won't lower anytime soon. Other issues: Butter isn't the only product in the market having a hard time - here's why tampons, Sriracha and peanut butter are in short supply. |

Michigan U.S. Reps. Tlaib, Levin arrested while protesting for abortion rights |
Walking in Washington: U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, and U.S. Rep. Andy Levin, D-Bloomfield Township, were among a handful of House Democratic lawmakers and activists that were arrested while blocking traffic between the court and the U.S. Capitol building. Back in Michigan: Jim Harbaugh and his wife Sarah lent their name and endorsement to the right-to-life movement, telling a fundraiser in Plymouth that the decision to give birth is “the right choice.” Racial inequities exposed by abortion issue: While white women are lamenting the rights the U.S. Supreme Court removed last month, Black women are reminded of what they’ve felt for centuries, their rights always have been compromised. |

The show must go on. Carnivals operate at half capacity while understaffed. |
A sharp decline: Carnivals and fairs have seen a decline in American workers in the last decade and are now growing reliant on the migrant laborers who travel to the U.S. to fill open positions. With that, a government lottery system leaves their workforce up to chance. What caused the decline? After a slew of cancellations throughout the summer of 2020, carnivals lost continuity with workers as people looked for other jobs. A rocky season created a domino effect depleting staff for the following summers.
For foodies: Are you a fan of the sweet carnival food? Eleanor’s Sweets and Sodas in Saline offers Italian sodas, snow cones and a wide range of candy. |

Proposed Northern Michigan nature preserve is home to rare habitat, nesting bald eagles |
Protecting the eagles: A proposed new nature preserve in the Traverse City area would save a rare slice of land home to nesting bald eagles and a special shallow-water cove that acts as a vital “nursery” for wildlife. From eagles to monkeys: A currently unnamed infant colobus monkey was recently born at Binder Park Zoo. From monkeys to giraffes: Toys “R” Us closed its final stores in 2021 but the retailer is making a comeback with in-store shops at every Macy’s in the United States. |
