Will Michigan schools reopen this year? Gov. Whitmer to announce decision tomorrow

While a media report earlier this week claimed Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer already had made a decision about the rest of this school year, she told MLive Tuesday that she hasn't finalized a plan quite yet. All Michigan K-12 schools have been closed since March 16 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Whitmer said she will announce her plan for the remainder of the school year tomorrow. One petition that is circulating urges the governor to refrain from canceling the rest of the school year, instead suggesting she reassess the situation every two weeks. MORE

Can you still go fishing in Michigan under social distancing guidelines?

The message for Michiganders has been quite clear during the coronavirus outbreak -- stay home. Of course, essential workers have to leave home to provide key services. For others, there are a few exceptions, like trips to the grocery store or pharmacy. Walks and bike rides are also okay, as long as social distancing is observed. So, what about fishing? MORE
