Who controls where and when you see political ads? It's complicated. |
Why we are talking about it: Online outrage sparked earlier this week after a journalist noticed that a 30-second advertisement alleging Tudor Dixon believes there should be a total ban on abortion, even in the instances of rape or incest, interrupted a children’s cartoon being streamed on Hulu. Who decides where these ads play?Well, it's complicated because there are different rules for different mediums. Radio rules are different than TV rules and those are all different than streaming rules. Read more about it here.
Speaking of elections: Promote the Vote 2022, a proposed constitutional amendment to expand Michigan voting rights and access, is asking the state Supreme Court to overrule the state panel that voted to keep it off the November ballot. |

We have a look at how much retirements spiked in Michigan schools during COVID. |
A spike in retirements: September 2020 saw a 67.9% increase in retirements compared to the prior September, per data from the Michigan Office of Retirement Services – which only includes data for employees who’ve worked long enough to be eligible for a pension.
A complicated situation:The teacher shortage is complicated in Michigan – as there were more teachers in the state in 2021-22 than any time in the past 15 years. But certain types of teachers were in short supply. Speaking of schools: Thousands of Michigan third graders could have to repeat a grade, according to new data.
