In Coronavirus news:

A further two deaths of patients who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 have been reported in Northern Ireland.

Another 2,272 cases of the virus were also notified.

On Thursday morning there were 324 Covid-positive patients in hospital, of whom 30 were in intensive care.

 

In other news:

* Most 80-year-olds would not be inclined to celebrate their milestone birthday by sitting outside for a week in the bitter cold.

* Brandon Lewis: UK ‘optimistic’ on Northern Ireland Protocol deal despite blow to December target.

* Justice Minister Naomi Long has accused Stormont’s Executive Office of a “complete failure of leadership” for failing to “drive forward” progress on the report on flags, identity and cultural traditions.

* A Stormont election returning a majority of MLAs in favour of a united Ireland would be required to trigger a border poll, a senior UK politician has said.
