Hello, If you missed out on the exhilarating experience of MozFest House: Kenya, this email gives you the opportunity to catch up! For two days, hundreds of us gathered in a picturesque setting just outside of the bustling centre of Nairobi, to delve into the most pressing issues, ideas, and innovations emerging across the African technological landscape. From packed main stages, Virtual-Reality dances through hailstorms (more on that in a bit!), soul-soothing yoga sessions, dance lessons to get us moving, to networking across disciplines and countries, and creating space for the most intimate conversations - MozFest House: Kenya was truly unforgettable. Relive these magical moments with our recap video! MozFest House: Kenya featured over 35 sessions packed with powerful conversations, and innovative art experiences. We discussed the influence of technology on African realities, questioning the role of disinformation in amplifying marginalisation. Our signature series, Dialogues and Debates, discussed the landscape of AI in Africa with regards to access, content moderation and structural interventions. Our Keynote speaker Daniel Motaung, powerfully told us of his journey standing up to Meta, instigating a lawsuit and working towards a fairer future of digital work on the African continent. Explore these sessions in-depth on our blog. You can also watch the Dialogues and Debates on YouTube. Due to an unexpected hailstorm(!!), three of our sessions had to be rescheduled. These sessions were livestreamed on MozFest Discord on the 23rd and 24th October. You can watch these Dialogues and Debates on our website. While MozFest House: Kenya, may have come to a close, our community spirit lives on! Stay connected with us on MozFest Discord, where we have conversations and collaborations all year round. Keep an eye on the MozFest blog to know about upcoming opportunities, resources, and news about MozFest all-year-round. Here's to the wonderful memories we made and to the exciting journeys that lie ahead! Sarah Allen Festival Director Mozilla |
