The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on impeachment. Debate begins this morning at 8 a.m. Some suggested reading for the day: President Trump’s letter to Nancy Pelosi and a timeline of what has led to this historic event.  


Twin Metals is about to release its plans for a mine near the Boundary Waters. A next step for the contentious project would be to put those plans through an environmental review. There’s a lot to unpack here, but Dan Kraker explains what’s at stake in the long, complex process.


Minnesota’s top lawyer is ready to crack down on wage theft. Briana Bierschbach  reports: “Since August, Minnesota has had one of the toughest laws against wage theft in the country. Now state agencies and the attorney general’s office are staffing up to enforce it.”


Hundreds Shakopee students are sick with flu-like symptoms. The Star Tribune reports that there have been 55 other school-related flu outbreaks this year. It appears the students have fallen ill with a B strain of the flu virus, which is unusual. However, a state health official told the Strib that B strains spread more among kids, so the school outbreaks weren’t unexpected.

On Wednesday, the full House of Representatives will debate whether to impeach President Trump. As we’ve done with other momentous debates in history, MPR News will bring you special live coverage from the House floor. Our coverage starts at 8 a.m., with context and fact-checking from our colleagues at NPR. Rachel Martin and Lulu Garcia-Navarro will host the coverage. We expect the House to vote on the two articles of impeachment either Wednesday or Thursday.
