Dear John,

The medical staff services profession is on the move, according to more than 600 early responses to HCPro’s
2017 MSP Salary Survey, which closes later this month.

Preliminary takeaways include:
  • MSPs are leaders. More than half of early survey respondents (54%) supervise others, and roughly one-third (34%) oversee multiple departments and/or services.
  • MSPs are climbing the compensation ladder. More than three-quarters of early respondents (76%) have received a raise within the past year. The largest portion of respondents (21%) earn salaries in the $70,001–$100,000 range; 14% make more than that.
  • MSPs love to learn. 92% of early respondents have at least some college under their belt; over one-third (38%) have a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree.
  • MSPs are doing double duty. Almost one-quarter of early respondents (23%) work in a department that performs provider enrollment and medical staff services functions.
  • MSPs work in small, but often growing, departments. Roughly two-thirds of early respondents (68%) are part of a department with four or fewer full-time staff members. Still, more than one-quarter  of respondents (28%) saw their department expand within the past year.

There’s still time to add your voice to the mix!
Please take a few moments to share the workplace trends shaping your career in the
2017 MSP Salary Survey. In recognition of your rapidly evolving profession, this year’s survey features new and improved questions and response options, developed with input from MSPs working in credentialing environments ranging from acute care hospitals and ambulatory centers to health plans and CVOs.

To show our thanks, we will select one respondent at random to win an HCPro training product! To enter to win, please include your contact information at the end of the survey once you have answered the questions.
