And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. I have a hard time reading Luke 2:7 without wanting to change the outcome. I find myself thinking, “could they not have found some way to help this family?” Perhaps God gave us this past scene from scripture to impact our actions in the future. Matthew 25:40, …Inasmuch as ye have done it onto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. We cannot change what happened yesterday, but we can have an impact on what is happening today. We cannot change where Christ was born but we can certainly take care of the least of these today. Thanks to you, we have fed, and given nightly shelter to over 40 homeless guest per night over the past 2 weeks. Jesus said, “when we did it for them, we did it for Him.” Is there a better way to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this season than to shelter the homeless?
Prayer request: Please be in prayer for our team members who help provide nightly service at the shelters. I am asking prayer for our health and safety during Coldest Nights shelter operations.
Property update: We continue to make progress toward acquiring property. This month, we look to take a major step forward by placing earnest money on the first location to be acquired. Your donations are helping with this, please keep us moving forward.
Breaking news: We have an anonymous donor who has stepped up with a 50-thousand-dollar gift challenge to join us on our capital campaign drive. Keep in mind, your December gifts will be a dollar-for-dollar match. One dollar equals two. Help us maximize this opportunity and move us closer to our goal. |
