Museum reuniting the past with the present for Native American groups

The LSU Museum of Natural Science has identified human remains in its collection representing at least 16 individuals — as well as funerary objects like bone awls and effigies — as eligible for repatriation to Native American nations and tribes in Louisiana and nearby states.

The museum has started the process of returning the items to the groups that have ties under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, or NAGPRA.
