| | Meet the charismatic twin sisters behind Amawele’s South African Cuisine. Pamela and Wendy Drew were inspired by their mother’s cooking and the incredibly diverse flavors they experienced while growing up in Durban, South Africa. Determined to share their unique take on comfort food with the Bay Area, they worked as nannies and rideshare drivers to save money while developing a business plan. Now they serve multicultural dishes with a personal twist like “post-apartheid” bunny chow and South African roti to customers who can’t get enough.

| C21: Packing Up, Moving in, Looking Forward | | |
| | In July 2019, KQED staff packed up their desks and said ”Goodbye for now!” to our headquarters at 2601 Mariposa Street. Little did we know that just eight months later COVID-19 would force the majority of our staff to pack up again and work from home. Today, almost a year later, we find ourselves packing one more time — this time with great pleasure! We look forward to a future where we'll be physically together with colleagues and guests again — this time in a modern, redesigned home, the capstone project of Campaign 21.
We asked KQED staff to tell us what they were looking forward to most in our new headquarters. Though the answers may vary, there’s one thing we all agree on: We can’t wait to see you again! | | |
