Dang. Queens have it made. Surrounded by guards (some with sweet hats, some AK-47s), brimming with porcelain, furniture, paintings, and miscellaneous treasure, and comprising a variety of stables and regal tearooms, Buckingham Palace is the place to be, especially if you are royalty and get to live here. Out front is where the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place, albeit at a distance-- arrive before 11:30am to get a good spot for viewing. While the palace may not look as grand or as medieval as expected from the outside, its interior is ornately decorated with gold and porcelain in Rocco, Neoclassical, and Baroque styles. The Palacio Real is the largest palace in all of Western Europe. With 135,000 square feet and 3,418 different rooms, the palace has enough space to accommodate some of Francisco de Goya's, Diego Velásquez's, and Juan de Flandes' most cherished works.
