Hi John,
It went from sunny skies to absolutely pouring today.
In other words, art-making weather! 🤪
We have some plans this morning, and guess what -- I'll be on the hunt for ideas to put in my art journal later on. ✔️
Do you keep a sketchbook or art journal too?
Some of us use journals to quickly capture ideas, while others use them to showcase finished concepts.
Some purposes for sketchbooks:
- Practice drawing
- Plein air paintings
- Daily ideas
- Doodling with kids
- Vacation watercolors
- Rough drawings
- Observational sketches (people in cafes, details of trees)
- Creative writing or poetry
- Collages
- and on and on!
I've used mine for all of these things. It's basically a treasure box that holds any visual things that come to mind.
The key for me is making sure it's a judgment-free zone.
Here are guiding commitments I hold as my Art Journal Credo:
- Play and experiment
- Be consistent
- Embrace imperfection
I turned this into a printable if you'd like to paste a copy as a reminder in your own sketcbhook...
