💔

My dad passed away early Thursday in a senior home in Greenwich, Connecticut. If you know me or have been a longtime subscriber, then you know how close we were. I was able to spend a lot of time with him even though we were thousands of miles apart thanks to FaceTime and my job. I used to travel to see him every few weeks and together, we took countless trips.

As I posted on Instagram, to stop the tears from flowing, I have to keep reminding myself how fortunate I was for winning the parent lottery and having him around for so long (he was 94). Growing up he and my mom kissed me every morning and night and told me they loved me. I’ve passed that tradition on to my kids and then some.

Did You Know You Can Now Text TSA? Here’s How to Ask Them All Your Airport Security Questions
Earlier today, my sister Georgette texted me, asking if she can bring an orchid plant as a carry-on on her flight from Florida to New York. I said, I’m not sure why you would want to but of course you can since you’re not traveling internationally and as long as the pot isn’t filled with liquid. I also told her that if she doesn’t want to take my word for it, or any time she wants to know what she can bring through airport security, to ask the TSA. Here's how, including a brand new method. Read the story.

📺 Travel Video of the Week

The tradition of dyeing the Chicago River green for St. Patrick’s Day dates back to 1962. It was initially an accident caused by a plumber using fluorescein dye to detect leaks in the river. However, the vivid green hue caught the eye of a local Irish American plumber who thought it would be a great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Since then, it has become a beloved annual tradition, and the recipe for the dye is kept a closely guarded secret!. Watch the video here.
