HighlightsSo machen wir uns fit für die nächste Krise Die politischen Massnahmen während der Coronakrise haben nachhaltigen Schaden angerichtet: Die Ausdehnung der Staatsverschuldung und der Inflation sind nur zwei davon. Wenn die Politik in kommenden Krisen ähnlich forsch einschreitet, dürfte das Pulver zur Bewältigung künftiger Herausforderungen eher verschossen sein, als uns lieb sein kann. Was ist also zu tun? Wie kriegen wir es hin, uns für künftige Notlagen zu wappnen, statt immer angeschlagener von Krise zu Krise zu taumeln und letztlich einen Systemzusammenbruch aufgrund von Planwirtschaft, Ãberschuldung und Hyperinflation zu riskieren? Olivier Kessler geht dieser Frage in einem aktuellen Beitrag nach. Welche Ordnung für die Nachkriegs-Ukraine? Der grosse Ãkonom Ludwig von Mises, der 1881 im (heute ukrainischen) Lwiw geboren wurde, befaste sich schon zu seiner Zeit mit den Prinzipien des Wiederaufbaus eines kriegsgeschüttelten Landes: «Es gibt nur ein Mittel, um das wirtschaftliche Wohlergehen einer ganzen Nation und jedes einzelnen Bürgers zu verbessern: Die schrittweise Akkumulation von Kapital. [...] Eine gesunde Wirtschaftspolitik ist eine Politik, die Sparen und Investitionen und damit die Verbesserung der technischen Produktionsmethoden und der Arbeitsproduktivität fördert.» Richard Ebeling erläutert in einem aktuellen LI-Paper die grosse Relevanz von Mises' Erkenntnissen für die Nachkriegsukraine. Lehren aus der Corona-Krise Die Corona-Krise war eine Blütezeit für Etatisten. Beängstigende Vorhersagen führten dazu, dass den Regierungen fast jede Macht zufiel, die sie sich wünschten. Freiheitsrechte wurden im Handumdrehen ausser Kraft gesetzt. Welche Lehren ziehen wir daraus? In einem aktuellen LI-Paper zeigt Timo Rager, dass nun eine Rückkehr zum konsequenten Schutz der Freiheitsrechte, die Einführung einer strengeren Gewaltenteilung (auch zwischen Medien und Staat), die Wiederbelebung des Subsidiaritätsprinzips, die Ermöglichung dezentraler Lösungen sowie die Begrenzung staatlicher Macht Priorität haben. Die Irrtümer der Antikapitalisten Einwände gegen den Kapitalimus gibt es zuhauf: Die freie Marktwirtschaft führe zu Hunger und Armut, zu steigender Ungleichheit, zu überflüssigem Konsum, zu Monopolen, zu Umweltzerstörung und Klimawandel. Viele dieser Argumente werden heute kaum noch hinterfragt. Doch sind sie auch wahr? Ist es tatsächlich die freie Marktwirtschaft, die all diese Probleme herbeiführt? Oder gehen diese gerade auf die Tatsache zurück, dass Märkte durch antikapitalistisch motivierte Staatsinterventionen verfälscht werden? Diese Fragen wurden am LI-Gespräch vom 12.
