The year after he opened his Grand Tour record book by winning a mountain stage at the Giro d’Italia, France’s Nans Peters soloed to victory over the col de Peyresourde to impose himself at Loudenvielle. Thibaut Pinot cracked because of pains after his crash on stage 1. Adam Yates retained the yellow jersey.

Nans Peters claimed at Loudenvielle his first win on the Tour de France, for his first appearance. He did it already last year on the Giro d’Italia, winning the 17th stage for his first appearance on the event, and he is now one of the 4 French current riders who won on both races, with Thibaut Pinot (3 stage wins on the Tour de France and 1 on the Giro d’Italia), Arnaud Démare (2 and 1 stage wins) and Pierre Rolland (2 and 1 stages).
