Rosie came into our lives as a nine-year-old rescue after it didn’t work out with her previous foster home. Over the years, we’d fostered many dogs, but none had walked into our house like Rosie. Usually, foster dogs are skittish. They hang back until they figure out the routine and their place in the house. Rosie came into our house like the only thing it was missing was her. Even though she had been given up and discarded, she never doubted that she owned the room.

Rosie was unfazed by impromptu light-saber battles and the antics of our two small boys. She fit right in and became an instant member of our family. It went so well that we wondered what trouble she had gotten into at her previous foster home. Then, food started disappearing from places where Basset Hounds with short legs shouldn’t be able to reach, like countertops and the kitchen table. (Keep reading)
