In what it describes as ‘dramatic discounts on its top-tier internet access plans’ NBN Co has unveiled a new lower cost wholesale pricing structure for retail service providers. Some welcome the move, while political critics have labelled the announcement as a capitulation.
The new lower pricing structure recently announced by NBN Co will not necessarily mean lower prices for consumers, according to the broadband boss of budget mobile and broadband provider Amaysim. However, it will enable RSPs to provide better services for the same cost, he said.
TPG, which is yet offer compensation to NBN consumers like Telstra and Optus, continues to ramp up its NBN offerings and telecoms market expansion with the latest launch of a new NBN50 plan with an unlimited data offer and a higher tier speed of 50Mbps.
