The new year is always a great chance to take stock of whats ahead, but I find the vision forward is best informed by a thoughtful look into the rearview mirror. Last January, I shared aretrospective overviewof our work and priorities in the prior year. Most important among those highlights was the publication of the20212025 strategic plan, which laid out an ambitious blueprint for advancing research on whole person health. |

January 11, 2023 As the new year begins, I want to congratulate Dr. Partap Khalsa on his recent retirement last month as director of the NCCIH Division of Extramural Activities. He will be missed. He has been an important part of NCCIHs scientific and senior staff since he joined the Center in January 2006 as a program director in the Division of Extramural Research (DER). He brought with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in sensory physiology and pain research. In 2014, he became the deputy director of DER helping to coordinate and manage DER research activities and staff.In 2017, Dr. Khalsa took over the reins as director of the Division of Extramural Activities (DEA) where he has served as the Executive Secretary for the National Advisory Council for Complementary and Integrative Health (NACCIH). I have had the privilege of working with him closely for many years. He has set an outstanding example and it will be difficult to fill his shoes. If you would like to wish him well in the blog comments, we will share your sentiments with him. I am looking forward of interacting with you in my new role as DEA director. |

NIH to award up to $4.75 million in FY23 for research grants to expand use of All of Us data NCCIH is working with the All of Us Research Program and 26 other institutes, centers, and offices from across the National Institutes of Health to support new research on the All of Us Researcher Workbench. These grants, solicited through R03 and R21 funding opportunities, will help support analysis of the Researcher Workbench data using standard tools and methods, as well as the development and use of new tools or methods. Applications are due by March 1, 2023. Letters of Intent will be accepted until January 30, 2023.
