Announcements Jessica McKlveen, Ph.D. October 17, 2024 Are you a researcher planning to submit a grant application to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in late January 2025 or later? If so, I have important NIH-wide news to share about upcoming changes to certain application forms and their instructions. The revised package for applications submitted on or after January 25, 2025, is called FORMS-I. Federal agency staff periodically update application forms so that they remain current with the most recent forms approved by the Office of Management and Budget and align data collection with new policies. FORMS-I includes substantive changes (such as new/deleted/modified fields). In the big picture, itâs part of supporting wider changes coming in 2025 at NIH that will impact application submission and review.  | An analysis of medical claims data suggests that adults experiencing new episodes of chronic pain may have differential access to all treatment options based on the type of health insurance they have. Recently published in The Journal of Pain, the study was conducted by researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health. | The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), seeks an accomplished, innovative scientist to serve as scientific director of the Division of Intramural Research (DIR). The scientific director will lead a vibrant basic, translational, and clinical research program focused on the mechanisms and management of pain. The scientific director reports to the director, NCCIH, and will serve as a member of the NCCIH senior leadership team. The application deadline is December 6, 2024.

Resources for Researchers Highlighted Funding Opportunities Diversity Resources  The summary from the June 4, 2024 "Cannabinoid Research Principal Investigators Meeting: Exploring the Mechanisms Underlying Analgesic Properties of Minor Cannabinoids and Terpenes" is now available on the NCCIH website.  Submissions for abstracts and session proposals are now being accepted for the 2025 International Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health (ICIMH). Submissions are due by Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Submissions in a variety of topics and mediums, such as abstracts, concurrent sessions, and wellness sessions, will be considered. The event is scheduled to take place March 5â7, 2025, in Seattle, Washington.  Upcoming Events Save the Date: NCCIH 25th Anniversary Symposium The NCCIH 25th Anniversary Symposium will take place on December 2, 2024.
