Trump FY21 Budget Proposes Elimination and Cuts to Federal History-Related Agencies & Programs
 

On February 10, the White House released its budget request to Congress for fiscal year (FY) 2021. As has become the norm since taking office, the president’s budget proposes devastating cuts to federal humanities and history funding. NCH Sends Letter to OMB Opposing Closure of National Archives Seattle Records Facility

NCH recently sent a letter to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) opposing the sale of the National Archives and Records Administration’s (NARA) records facility in Seattle, Washington. NCH urged OMB to reopen the review process since no opportunity was provided for public comment before the decision to sell the property was made. Read more >>>

NEH Announces $30.9 Million for 188 Humanities Projects Nationwide

Crosby Kemper III Sworn in as Director of the IMLS 

On January 27, Crosby Kemper III took the helm of the Institute of Museum and Library Services as its sixth director. The IMLS director position is a four-year term alternatively held by individuals with special competence in the library field and those with expertise in museum services. Kemper succeeds Dr. Kathryn K. Matthew, who served as director from 2015 to 2020. Read more>>>

National Archives Awards $2.6 Million for Historical Records Projects 

Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero recently awarded 29 grants totaling $2,585,796 to projects in 22 states and the District of Columbia. The National Archives grants program is carried out with the advice and recommendations of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.
