Organic waste-fed larvae turned into sustainable fish feed in Tanzania In Tanzania, aquaculture production is essential for the livelihoods of people living in local communities. However, it heavily relies on expensive imported feed or poorly produced local alternatives, which strain the economy and harm the environment. To address the pressing challenge of unsustainable aquaculture production, the Nordic Climate Facility (NCF), managed by NDF, financed a project to make fish feed more sustainable and economically beneficial for the locals. The solution: Growing Black Soldier larvae by organic waste and then turning them into an aquaculture meal. |

Remarkable scale-up in our project financing To continue strengthening our institution as a key value-adding instrument of the Nordic countries – aiming at advancing global climate action – it has been crucial to scale up our financing. In 2024, NDF has approved a remarkable EUR 52 million in financing climate projects, surpassing last year's total of EUR 39 million. This means more support for crucial climate initiatives. “NDF is now an institution that I truly believe can live up to the expectations of making a bigger-than-its-size contribution to global development and climate finance,” Santala says to Development Today. |
