UNFCCC Momentum for Change Climate Action Award to IDB-NDF supported program

The Proadapta project "Proadapta Sertão" was one of 15 ground-breaking projects announced as winners of the prestigious award.

Proadapt was launched in 2013 by the Inter-American Development Bank in partnership with the Nordic Development Fund. Using climate change as a catalyst for market reform, Proadapt focuses on the opportunistic side of climate change by supporting climate resilience in smaller firms and their supply chains to foster business and investment opportunities in private sector climate resilience. On the knowledge side, Proadapt supports the development and testing of resilience tools for scale up and replication.

New impact investment instrument targets cloud forests and energy security in Latin America

NDF has approved support to the Cloud Forest Blue Energy Mechanism (CFBEM), a first of its kind impact investment instrument developed by Conservation International and The Nature Conservancy (TNC).  The project consists of the development of three pilot projects across Latin America. The Cloud Forest Blue Energy Mechanism brings together payment for environmental services with a pay-for-success model to create an innovative financing technique that targets developing countries.

Women empowered to fight climate change while raising forests and finances in Nepal

Large-scale deforestation in Nepal has long contributed to greenhouse gas emissions and land degradation, aggravating the negative impacts of a changing climate. In 2017, women of seven forest communities in the Nawalparasi district joined a programme to develop non-timber products in the form of forest gardens, which don’t require the felling of trees to succeed. The results are raising the well being of both the forests and their families.

The 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held in Katowice, Poland in December 2018

NDF will arrange a side event at the Nordic Pavilion on 11 December 2018. The event is part of the Financing Day co-hosted together with the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO).
