Dare to Dream
With the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens, we took the world’s first optic lens, created by Charles Chevalier in 1839, and crafted an extraordinary creative tool for contemporary photographers. Famed for its ethereal renderings, the Daguerreotype Achromat offers artists a full range of aperture effects, by adjusting your settings you can glide between sensational sharpness and heavenly haze right through to deep dreamy focus. Brett Allen Smith used the Daguerreotype Achromat to capture stunning stills of Tel Aviv’s neon nightlife under the gross sulfur streetlights. Take a look.

Poetic and Painterly
The Daguerreotype Achromat’s distinctive Waterhouse Aperture System features specially designed plates which produce rich, textured backgrounds when inserted into a shaft in front of the lens elements. For softer, more painterly effects, we developed Lumière and Aquarelle Aperture plates; the Lumière yields a soft glow and a delicate grained background, while Aquarelle produces a crystalised texture and watercolor effect. Photographer Li Hui often pays particular attention to things that are slightly neglected and easily overlooked in her work. Click on ‘Read More’ below to fawn over her flawless exposures taken with the Daguerreotype Achromat.
