Dr. Krista Soderlund from the University of Texas at Austin's Institute for Geophysics is a planetary scientist who focuses on planetary interiors and fluid dynamics, with particular interests in ocean worlds and magnetic fields across our solar system. In addition to using direct numerical simulations and terrestrial analogs, she is also co-investigator of the ice-penetrating radar instrument REASON on NASA’s Europa Clipper mission.
Dr. Soderlund will review different potential mechanisms that have been proposed to drive oceanic circulations in the Jovian and Saturnian satellites, summarize recent advances in the literature, and highlight outstanding questions.
