MOL secures transition-linked loan to support environmental strategy

‘Ship Finance’ and ‘Energy Transition’ are key themes at this year’s Europort, which takes place 7–10 November, at a time when the two topics have never been more closely linked.
A recently announced US$500 million ‘global credit facility agreement’ between MUFG Bank and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) indicates the scale of investments now at stake as shipping looks to fulfil its long-term targets for decarbonisation. The transition-linked loan, which has been audited by DNV Business Assurance Japan, has been extended to fund the shipping group’s response to climate change and its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The MOL Group has set itself the goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. With the agreement not tied to a specific vessel project, the Group will use the capital to “carry forward its environmental strategy from the aspect of financing and contribute to the realisation of a low-carbon/decarbonised society by 2050 through concerted group-wide efforts”.

SAFETY4SEA and Europort join forces again: 15 prestigious awards

Following their successful partnership in 2019, SAFETY4SEA and Europort are pleased to announce that the 2023 SAFETY4SEA EUROPORT Awards will be presented this November and will recognise efforts to foster sustainable shipping. The series of special awards focuses on three specific themes: digital shipping, energy transition and human capital. Nominations are now open until 9 June 2023.
