Residency Program Coordinator Boot Camp

An intensive course that will train both osteopathic and allopathic program coordinators on ACGME requirements, best practices for recruitment and orientation, implementing changes under the Next Accreditation System (NAS), the Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER), and working with program directors.
 

Course materials are updated on an annual basis to reflect changes in ACGME accreditation standards.
 

This class gives students the skills necessary to: 
 

  • Interpret ACGME standards and support compliance efforts 
  • Support the program director in meeting the ACGME standards 
  • Understand GME and associated terminology 
  • Clearly define the roles, tasks, and expectations of the program director, program coordinator, and residents 
  • Manage recruitment, orientation, and credentialing processes 
  • Develop strategies to optimize daily program management tasks 
  • Support the accreditation process 
  • Learn responsibilities specific to managing surgical, medical, and hospital-based programs

This two-day intensive course moves beyond the basics and focuses on topics such as: mentoring newer coordinators, involvement in scholarly activities, role in faculty development, managing disciplinary actions, and working with limited budgets.
A combination of instructor-led presentation, class interaction, and hands-on learning, this boot camp will give coordinators the skills to move out of their comfort zone and build their confidence in areas such as poster presentation development and writing academic papers.
 
This class gives Coordinator's the skills necessary to: 
 
  • Train new program coordinators
  • Create a poster presentation for educational conferences
  • Turn a poster presentation into a published paper
  • Manage disciplinary actions
  • Provide feedback to residents, faculty, and program directors
  • Support resident scholarly activity
  • Set up orientation and in-service programs for faculty
  • Implement time management and wellness tools specific to program coordinators
