Home Care Specialist — Compliance (HCS-C) credential holders are home care professionals skilled in establishing, implementing, and monitoring a home health agency’s compliance program, specifically with state and federal regulations related to agency operations.
 
To become credentialed with the HCS-C, the candidate must possess:
  • Expertise in the understanding and implementation of written policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Understanding of the 7 elements of a compliance program
  • Knowledge of OIG’s standards as they relate to an agency’s fundamental care-giving mission
  • Ability to enforce standards through well-publicized disciplinary guidelines
HCS-C holders are considered leaders in the industry because they:
  • ENFORCE Medicare regulations governing care delivery to beneficiaries
  • UNDERSTAND the elements of an effective compliance program
  • ENSURE the program meets OIG standards for agency’s care-giving mission to patients and the community IMPLEMENT an effective compliance program
  • PROVIDE direction and instruction to less experienced staff
  • MONITOR agency adherence to the program
