New details about juvenile jailbreak

with Jennifer Wadsworth | Assistant metro editor

Good morning. Here's a look at our latest headlines.

EBRSO employee arrested

A former East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office employee has been arrested and charged with one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile. Elyse Carmosino has the details.

Juvenile jailbreak

A step-by-step account of the jailbreak by five juvenile inmates came to light in a report recently obtained through a records request to the Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services, which reviews incidents at the detention center as part of the facility’s licensing requirements. The document offers new details about the jailbreak that reignited calls for a new facility to hold youth awaiting hearings or trials in the city-parish’s juvenile justice system. James Finn has the story.

Death penalty case

At every capital murder trial in Louisiana, prospective jurors are questioned extensively about their views on the death penalty before any evidence is presented in the guilt phase of the trial. Michael Lee Wade, a Baton Rouge man against whom prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty in the fatal 2019 shooting of his ex-girlfriend, her boyfriend and her 72-year-old grandmother, wants that to change.

Here's the story by Joe Gyan Jr.
