What's making news in New Orleans?
By Chad Calder SLAIN DETECTIVE PART OF ZULU TRIP: NOPD Detective Everett Briscoe, who was shot and killed during a robbery in Houston over the weekend, was visiting the city with friends and fellow members of the Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club. We've got the latest on the tragic turn of events, which also injured Briscoe's close friend and fellow Zulu member Dyrin “DJ” Riculfy. GET POKED OR GET TESTED: Following the FDA's full approval of the Pfizer vaccine, Gov. John Bel Edwards said Monday that nearly 40,000 state employees will soon have a choice: get vaccinated against COVID-19 or face regular testing and other restrictions. In New Orleans, the FDA's move resulted in no immediate change in policies among agencies in the metro area. WINSTON SHINES, SAINTS WIN: The New Orleans Saints defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second preseason game, but the real contest Saints fans care about is the quarterback battle between Jameis Winstson and Taysom Hill. Winston, who started the game Monday, made a strong case for the job. A decision is expected to be made this week. Also, we've got a look at the effort to keep fans save from COVID-19 inside the Superdome, and encourage unvaccinated ticketholders to get a shot in order to get in. Thanks for joining us for today's Front Page, and thank you for starting your day with us. CC |
