London Transport Museum is gearing up to reopen

Tube fans, rejoice! On 17 May, the ever-brilliant London Transport Museum plans to emerge from the long, dark tunnel that was Lockdown Three, ready to take you on a thrilling ride through the capital's vehicular history.

Visitors can look forward to plenty of new exhibits, a grown-ups only evening event programme and revamped galleries, as well as old favourites like the museum's incredible collection of vintage buses and trains.

With interactive fun aplenty, London Transport Museum is a brilliant choice for a family day out. Not only do kids go free, but adults need only buy one ticket each to enjoy unlimited daytime return entry for an entire year. Click below to plan your visit, or read on for our museum highlights.

Plan Your Visit
After Dark Antics

Treat yourself to a Routemaster cocktail and roam the galleries after dark at London Transport Museum's new adults-only events season. From the Thames Tunnel to the Festival of Britain, each of these unusual evenings — which take place on selected Thursdays from 20 May —  has a different theme and features a special activity such as a pub quiz or a creative writing session. Click on the cocktail image to book your tickets.

Interactive Fun

With plenty of intriguing buttons to press and mini vehicles that you can pretend to drive, little ones always love London Transport Museum. Right now, there's more interactive (and educational) entertainment than ever before, including a family-friendly trail for May half-term and the new Smooth Operator train computer challenge.

Brand New Exhibits

Look into the future with the help of London 2030, a new installation created by MA students at Central Saint Martins that explores what different neighbourhoods may look like a decade from now. Another exciting addition to look out for during your visit is TfL's original rainbow pedestrian crossing, which was installed in 2014 in support of Pride.

Marvellous Merch At A Discount

London Transport Museum boasts a cracking gift shop — think gorgeous vintage posters, moquette-patterned accessories, and ridiculously charming toy train sets. They've even got London Underground-themed face coverings, so you can match your favourite tube line during your commute. What's more, spend £25 and you'll get 15% off.
