New Funding Term: Is It FOA or NOFO?

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has started using the term Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) instead of Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). This is part of an effort to standardize terminology across the Federal government.

Youre likely to see both terms being used for a while, but going forward, NIH will update all its websites and resources to use NOFO.

Rest assured, the change in terms does not change anything else (e.g., the funding process, review process, etc.).
