| COMMUNITY Lantern Workshop with Fritzi Huber
Saturday, Oct. 29, 11:00 PM - 2:00 PM Artists and non-artists: join us in Studio 1 at the museum for this collective gathering. The public is invited to learn lantern-making and to take part in our community lantern project. Artist Fritzi Huber will lead the workshop while attendees collaborate on a lantern that will hang in the museum in the Art of Illumination exhibition on view Dec. 3, 2016 - Jan. 8, 2017. The public will also have an opportunity to purchase a Floating Lantern at the Museum Shop and decorate their lantern sleeve during the workshop. The Floating Lantern Ceremony will take place on Sun. Dec. 11.

Original compositions, traditional and modern jazz with the Lynn Grissett Quartet led by trumpet and saxophonist Lynn Grissett, pianist Thomas Linger, bassist Lance Scott, and Kobie Watkins, on drums/percussion. A Wilmington native and graduate of UNC Greensboro, Grissett's has performed with a diverse range of musicians: Winard Harper, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, Nile Rodgers, Prince and Trombone Shorty to name a few. The popular and often sold-out Jazz @ The CAM concert series is presented by the Cameron Art Museum and the Cape Fear Jazz Society.

Wilmington Sacred Harp Singers presents a traditional Sacred Harp Singing and invite you to join in the music and raise your voice in song! This dynamic form of a cappella social singing dates back to Colonial America, using a modern reprint of an 1844 songbook The Sacred Harp. The music is loud, vigorous and intense. It is meant to be sung, not just observed. No previous experience is necessary. Free and open to the public, donations appreciated.

He is currently an artist in residence at Penland School of Crafts, Penland NC where he was a Core Fellow from 2007-2009 and studied under Doug Beube while exploring a variety of materials and techniques, including the book as a form. The Pro Musica Concert Series--in its sixth season--celebrating the works of living composers will present guitarist Michael Nicolella recognized as one of America's most innovative classical guitarists. Classical Guitar magazine referred to him as "one of the contemporary guitar's most gifted stars". A uniquely eclectic and versatile artist, Nicolella blurs the lines between musical styles and disciplines. His program will include original compositions as well as music by Lennon/McCartney, Frank Zappa, Leo Brouwer, Philip Glass, Elliot Carter, Gyorgy Ligeti and Jacob ter Veldhuis.
