On Friday, June 7, the National Advisory Council for Complementary and Integrative Health (NACCIH) will meet on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) campus. We welcome NCCIH grantees, potential applicants, and our other stakeholders to attend the Open Session to hear updates on the Centers activities, policies, and funding priorities. NCCIH will livestream the session onNIH Videocastfrom 10 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. ET, where it will also bearchived.

Which Mentored K Award Mechanism Is Right For Me?

Understanding the different Career Development Mechanisms, or K awards, and selecting the right funding opportunity announcement (FOA) to fit your science can be a confusing process. NCCIH participates in four types of mentored K awards for early-stage investigators, and there are three versions of each type to choose from, depending on the study design you propose to use. The NCCIHtraining webpagedescribes the K awards we support and provides links to each FOA. This blog post provides an overview of the mentored K award types and describes the differences among the threeversions.

NCCIH Job Opening Announcement: Health Scientist Administrator

The NCCIH Division of Extramural Research announces openings forHealth Scientist Administrator (Program Officer) Positionsto guide and manage a grants program supporting basic and mechanistic research in probiotics and the microbiome. The Program Officer will lead an innovative and high impact program aimed at investigating the mechanisms of action underlying probiotics and microbiome, including biochemical, molecular, cellular, genetic and epigenetic, immunological, neural synaptic and neural circuits, physiological, and behavioral processes, for a variety of health or clinical outcomes, with a special emphasis on topics related to gut-brain axis, neuroimmune, pain, and well-being. This position provides an opportunity to impact priorities, develop new research initiatives and plays a leading role in the advancement of a national program of probiotics and microbiome research.

Applications will be accepted starting on May 20. The application deadline is May 29.
