Fury as Boris Johnson calls devolution a 'disaster'

But first, let's reflect on these comments made by Boris Johnson.

The Prime Minister is said to have called devolution a 'disaster north of the border' in a video call to his MPs.

He's also reported to have called it former Prime Minister Tony Blair's 'biggest mistake', in remarks Downing Street has not denied.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was quick to respond - saying Mr Johnson's comments were 'worth bookmarking' and writing on Twitter: "The only way to protect and strengthen [Scottish Parliament] is with independence."

New Scottish lockdown levels to be announced

Back to Covid. Today is the day we take a deep breath and brace for new, potentially tougher, lockdown restrictions.

Nicola Sturgeon is set to announce them this afternoon and has suggested some areas of Scotland could go into the toughest Level 4 for a 'limited period' to protect health services this winter.

Find out exactly when the announcement takes place and what it might mean for your area here.
