Looking for autumn leaves? First week of October brings peak colors. It is starting to feel like fall and in Minnesota we are chilling nicely. Between your plans to attend fall festivals, church rummage sales and Oktoberfests, make sure to check out the leaves. While many are at their peak, some are even passing it. 

Beth Dooley: Ditch summer's 'wimpy lettuce' for fall's heartier greens. All Things Considered host Tom Crann joined Dooley at the Minneapolis Farmers Market for some fresh produce and ideas, from using beet greens over pasta to using cabbage in a salad or wrapped around ground meat. 

Florida officials are scrambling to limit Hurricane Ian's impact on the election. Election officials in Florida say they are going to meet Thursday's deadline to mail ballots to voters for this year's midterm elections, despite the widespread flooding and damage caused by Hurricane Ian last week.

Native adoption law at center of Supreme Court case used 'every day' in Minnesota. The 1978 law led to protections for Native families in child welfare and adoption cases. It was meant to address the disproportionate number of native children in foster care and historic attempts to erase Native cultures. Opponents say the law can delay getting children into safe homes and is unconstitutional because it give preferential treatment based on race.
