By KELLY P. KISSEL | Metro editor While the racial balance in Baton Rouge is fairly evenly split, its Metro Council isn't, and a demographer says it will probably stay that way. Each council district must hold a certain amount of residents, and the person helping East Baton Rouge draw its new maps says that trying to create an even split between black council members and white council members probably cannot be done. If they build it, people will come. Of course I'm talking about a new Mississippi River bridge, which would draw traffic away from what we still call the new bridge after 54 years, and of course away from bridges in north Baton Rouge and Donaldsonville. Lawmakers seem to have struck a deal to provide $300 million toward a new span. Please. As a motorist in Baton Rouge, ease my pain. Drew Brees sacked? There are reports out that NBC has dropped the former New Orleans Saints quarterback from its broadcasting team. Can we blame the offensive line?
