BY DOUG GRAHAM | Staff writer A new bridge over the Mississippi River in the Baton Rouge area remains a priority for Louisiana's incoming leader, according to a spokesman for Gov.-elect Jeff Landry. But building the bridge is expected to cost approximately $3 billion, and how the state will foot the bill remains an open question. The state has narrowed its possible locations down to three sites, all in Iberville Parish near Plaquemine and St. Gabriel. The state is expected to name a preferred site for the crossing by August. Terrence Graves will be named the 21st football coach in Southern University history on Wednesday, becoming the Jaguars' fourth head man in the past five seasons. Graves, 53, served as the team's interim coach after Southern fired Eric Dooley on Nov. 14, and coached the squad to a Bayou Classic victory against Grambling. He has a 13-year association with Southern as a defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. |
