D-Day’s 80th: Today marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landing. Keith Spera and Chris Granger are in France with a contingent from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. New Treasure: Kenner’s Treasure Chest Casino has made the move from water to land, Blake Paterson reports. The new, land-based casino opened to the public today and marks a $100 million bet the casino’s owners are making on the region’s gambling appetite.
Burn, baby, burn: St. Tammany officials were left with the question of what do with some 150,000 cubic yards of debris after tornadoes roared through in April. Alex Lubben says they’re burning it in a deep pit with a special machine to reduce the emissions.
Closing shop: A well-known New Orleans eatery is closing after eight years, Chelsea Shannon reports. Bakery Bar offered a tasty combo: cocktails and baked goods.
