New Orleans tornadoes leave swath of destruction

with Matthew Albright| Assistant metro editor

Hello. Here are some of our biggest stories today.

A swath of destruction

As the sun rose over the New Orleans area this morning, the scale of destruction from tornadoes became clear. At least one person is confirmed dead.

Our news team is all over it:

  • Photos, including some aerial shots, show the scope of the damage
  • We're posting more information live as we learn it.
  • Our reporters are finding stories from the wreckage, like this one about a girl in a wheelchair who was hurled away by the wind — but survived.
  • If you want to help, here are some ways you can do so.

Stay with us as we learn more about the aftermath.

Workers on strike

Federal contract workers at a Bogalusa call center are going on strike. They say the company they work for isn't paying them fairly and is promoting White employees over Black employees.

This story explains what the call center does and why workers say they're going on strike.

Meet the Tigers

LSU's football team has announced its roster. Our sports team walks you through all the names to know.

With spring practice starting, they also took a look at the five biggest things to watch for as Brian Kelly starts reshaping the team.

Thanks for reading, and have a great afternoon!
