I posted about the forbidding Grosmont Castle (CADW: open and free) a few days ago. Facing it across the village is the sizeable parish church. It's crowning glory is the carpentered roof, now presiding over a splendid open space which, on the basis of its fittings, is a substantial community asset.

The chancel arch is filled with a decent screen, and beyond it the large transepts and chancel provide plenty of room for worship, watched by villagers from the early years of the eighteenth century.
