Saturday, 27th January 2018 Waterbeach Thread[ed] is a one-day pop-up event where our whole community will share fun, enthusiasm and concerns about Textiles in our lives here and further afield. The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist proactively supports an innovative venture which celebrates community in all its aspects. The event also fundraises for Macmillan Cancer Care. One of the organisers has a family member wants to ‘pay forward’ the help received from Macmillan in 2012. To reflect the personal and domestic nature of Waterbeach’s textile activity, most of the groups or individuals will use ironing-boards to display of what they have made or treasure. This simple approach will enable visitors to enjoy the peace and Grade II * Listed ambiance of the Norman nave of the church. Although small-scale, the event has a big, diversity-inclined heart and will embrace contributions from individuals, groups, amateurs and professionals. The ‘ed’ in the title indicates that by staying ‘edited’ the event can include contributions from across Waterbeach and nearby Fenland. A ‘Living With Integrity’ group of community and church members concerned with Sustainability and Social Justice. www.stjohns-waterbeach.org.uk . will be partnering with all kinds of local, planet-friendly organisations for interactive displays. Valuable support is offered by Ede & Ravenscroft, makers of Academic and Ceremonial Robes, as well as other professionals. There may also be a few pop-up entertainments! Teas and Coffees will be available on the day, and there should be ample parking behind the church, down the gravel drive. CB25 9HT, Station Road. angelastoryteller@gmail.com or 01223 860214.
