New record for Zsolnay ceramics at Quittenbaum Kunstauktionen!

In addition to numerous increases in the glass offerings, with Daum Frères with enameled vases and the Bohemian company Loetz Wwe., Klastersky Mlyn with their exceptionally beautiful 'Phänomen' vases standing out as winners, it was above all the ceramics that stood out in a  positive way. Quittenbaum succeeded in bringing together seven highly attractive works by the Hungarian manufacture Vilmos Zsolnay from three private collections.

These were all hotly contested and were only knocked down for many times their estimated prices after minutes-long battles. According to research on the international auction platform Artnet, a new price record for works by Zsolnay in the last ten years was set for the beautiful large vase with a very artistically designed golden dragon. Enthusiasts in the room, on the phones and online outbid each other until a customer from another European country came out on top at 54,000 €.

The design auction on Wednesday was a continuation of the first auction day with more excellent results and exciting bidding battles for selected design objects. The 'Flightfile' desk by Mark Brazier-Jones from 1990 is extravagant and unique. Two online bidders appreciated this and outbid each other until the participant from France finally won the lot for 10,000 €.

The works of the French designer Philippe Starck have already achieved top prices at several auctions. They were also coveted at this auction. The hammer fell at 11,000 € for the rare 'Theater du Monstre' cabinet - a piece of furniture in architectural shape. Within a very short time, three bidders outbid each other and the winning bid went to a dedicated collector from France.
