Launch of £15 Million Fund A new £15 million fund has been announced to support affordable lending services. It will support Credit Unions and Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) which offer financial help to those who have poor credit and are often turned away from high street banks. |

Funding for Regional Food and Drink Projects Available An initiative to help drive projects that celebrate locally sourced and produced food and drink has reopened for applications. The Scotland Food & Drink Partnership’s Regional Food Fund aims to support the food and drink sector’s recovery from coronavirus (COVID-19) with £100,000 of Scottish Government funding. The fund is part of the Food and Drink Recovery plan and will be managed by Scotland Food & Drink with grants of up to £5,000 available to applicants. |

New Measures to Accelerate Greener, Cheaper Heating Legislation to help cut emissions, reduce fuel poverty and create green jobs by accelerating the deployment of heat networks has been passed unanimously by the Scottish Parliament. The move sees Scotland become the first country in the UK to legislate to support the growth of heat networks, through which clusters of homes and businesses get heating from a central source rather than individual fossil fuel boilers - making it safer for customers and more efficient.

New Border Control Post at Cairnryan Because of the terms of the Brexit deal negotiated by the UK Government some goods entering the UK from the EU are now subject to the same border entry requirement and controls as goods from the rest of the world, with further controls on imports from the EU being introduced in phases this year. The Cairnryan BCP will be used to inspect goods arriving in Scotland from the Republic of Ireland and the wider EU via Northern Ireland, and the UK Government require that it is established in the second half of 2021. Hardship Fund for Creative Freelancers Reopens Next Week The Hardship Fund for Creative Freelancers, including the Screen Hardship Fund, will reopen for applications on Tuesday 2nd March 2021 with a total of £9 million of Scottish Government funding available.
