The 5-Word Acceptance Speech is the hallmark of The Webby Awards. In 25 years of hosting the Internet’s biggest celebration, The Webbys has seen the full range of 5-Word Speeches: The good, the bad and the insanely witty.
Now, The Webbys has partnered with GIPHY Clips to let the Internet decide which one is The All-Time Best Webby 5-Word Speech!
The competition kicked off yesterday and it looks back over two decades of speeches, rounded up 64 of the most memorable, and lined them up into one giant bracket. Your votes will decide which speech earns the title of All-Time Best.
The first round is live and features some stiff competition—think: “Free...Open...Keep One Web.” by 2013 Webby Lifetime Achievement Winner Sir Tim Berners-Lee vs “MSG Is Good For You” by 2018 Webby Special Achievement Winner David Chang.
