NEWLY SELF-EMPLOYED HARDSHIP FUND OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS This latest grant scheme, provided by the Scottish Government, is designed to help alleviate financial hardship for newly self-employed people who meet the eligibility criteria.
The scheme offers a one-off £4,000 payment for those whose status as being newly self-employed makes them ineligible for the UK Government’s Coronavirus (Covid-19) Self-employment Income Support Scheme.
Please Note: You cannot resubmit your application if you make an error, and there is no appeals process after the fund closes, so make sure you read this information carefully.
The scheme is being administered by the Scottish Government and NOT Business Gateway Fife. |

Mobile & Home Based Close Contact Services Fund Now Open This fund will provide support for those who run a close contact business on a mobile basis or from home and are in financial hardship due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Eligible applicants will receive a one-off £4,000 payment (£2,000 for the period to end December 2020 and a further £2,000 to cover the period from January 2021 onwards).
Again please note, Business Gateway Fife is not administering this fund and we have been advised that you cannot resubmit your application if you make an error and there is no appeals process. |

Non-domestic rates relief extended Retail, hospitality, leisure and aviation businesses will pay no rates during 2021-22 under proposals outlined today. It is one of a series of measures proposed by the Scottish Government following confirmation of a further £1.1 billion of consequential funding arising from UK Government coronavirus (COVID-19) spending. |

Young People Helped With Costs of New Job The Scottish Government has paid out more than £190,000 to eligible young people to help with the costs of starting a new job. The one-off payment of £250, or the higher rate of £400 if the recipient is the main carer of any children, is available to 16 to 24-year-olds who have been offered a job after being out of work for at least six months and are in receipt of a qualifying benefit. New Fife Food Market Pumps £12,000 into Local Economy A new north east Fife food hub which launched last year has already pumped £12,000 into the local economy.

Government announces £20 million SME Brexit Support Fund The UK Government has announced a £20 million SME Brexit Support Fund to support small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) adjust to new customs, rules of origin, and VAT rules when trading with the EU. SMEs who trade only with the EU and are therefore new to importing and exporting processes will be encouraged to apply for grants of up to £2,000 for each trader to pay for practical support including training and professional advice to ensure they can continue trading effectively with the EU.
