Barry strengthens to Category 1 hurricane, nears landfall along Louisiana coast, the National Hurricane Center says

Barry is expected to dump 10 to 20 inches of rain over south-central and southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi. Saturday morning, the Coast Guard was rescuing people via helicopter who were stranded on an island by flooding."
