National trade association CompTIA is phasing out support for regional STEM programs after a major reorganization that flew under the radar.
Last fall, the association dissolved its social impact arm and announced it would split into two separate entities: one that continues as a nonprofit, and another that focuses on the org's 40-year-old IT certification and training business, which was sold to “third party investment firms,” according to an internal email viewed by Technical.ly.
A board member of one of the programs impacted, TechGirlz, says she's been struggling to obtain the curriculum so she can transfer it elsewhere, but the former CompTIA has yet to give up the free, open source programming.
