House votes to increase stimulus checks to $2,000, substantially boosting payments for most Americans as part of a COVID-19 relief package

The vote to increase relief checks increases payments to $2,000 instead of the $600 checks that would have been given out as part of a COVID-19 relief package that President Donald Trump signed into law Sunday evening. The boosted checks were a direct demand from Trump. The bill now goes to the Senate where its future remains uncertain.
