John Paul Stevens, the second oldest and third longest-serving Supreme Court justice in history, dies at 99

Stevens, a Republican president's nominee who went on to lead the court's liberal wing, died on Tuesday. President Gerald Ford nominated him to the court in 1975 and he went on to serve for 35 years before retiring in 2010.
